HADAF Center For Human Rights organized a workshop under the title " Tolerance Within Educational Institutions " in the presence of Dr. Yusef Safi ( HADAF's Executive Manager ), Mr. Ali Barghouth ( Lecturer in Al-Aqsa University ), and ( 35 ) female and male youth from university students and volunteers, within activities of its project " Promoting Youth's Rights And Civic Engagement " funded by ( EU & NHRF ).
The workshop was opened by a presentation from Dr. Yusef Safi who welcomed the guests and participants indicating that the principles in the educational institutions to be centers for tolerance culture, and to graduate well-aware generations with wide knowledge in tolerance, but for sorrow this does not happen in our Palestinian educational institutions. He added that the issue of tolerance should be addressed through well-aware and open minds, and big efforts from all for haying foundations, for tolerance, as it should not be accepted to have violence within schools and universities which should be centers for disseminating and promoting tolerance culture among coming generations.
On the other hand , Mr. Ali Barghouth indicated the necessity to understand the other's culture and accepting him even though he is different culturally, politically, religiously . He stressed the need to refrain from the traditionalism in the way of thinking, and the point of view towards the different other which enhances understanding of the other. Moreover, he indicated that negligence of the other is a crime which resulted from the total belief in one's thoughts which leads to disrespect of others. He added that as long as we are tolerant, we will be more nearer to humanity as tolerance calls for quality among people. He finally indicated that intolerance and violence can be witnessed in all aspects of our life, as we have partisan, religious, cultural, and sports intolerance and this can be seen in homes, schools and universities. Importantly, he said that intolerance person is not independent in his opinion, is follow, and imitator |
