HADAF Center For Human Rights organized a workshop under the title " Youth And Volunteer Work " within activities of its project " Promoting Youth's Rights And Civic Engagement ", funded by ( EU & NHRF ), in the presence of Dr. Yusef Safi ( HADAF's Executive Manager ), Dr. Tala'at Easa ( Lecturer in Journalism college in Islamic university ) and ( 23 ) female and male volunteers.
Dr. Tala'at Easa spoke about the importance of volunteering and importance of university student's participation in society development, encouraging them to continue volunteering work approach so as to be effective mechanism in the society, as this stage represents the stage of formulation of personality and self-proof.
He stressed that volunteering work gain great value in the civilized and well-aware societies, indicating that our Arab societies lack this kind if culture as individuals consider volunteering work as only a means to get job opportunity. He also added that what characterize volunteering work is that it diminishes the negative side in person's character, and makes him participating people in their worries and their different details of their life, and to get in touch with different categories in the society.
Hw also highlighted China experience in volunteering work within Bejen Olympics 2008, through mobilizing ( 5 ) million volunteers who contributed in the success of the Olympics, and drawing a lighting picture on China, which reflected their high culture and distinctive civilization. He called the attention that volunteering work benefits youth in gaining skills and expertise more than theoretical study, ad study remains restricted to bock and classroom with out any kind of engagement. To promote volunteering culture he suggested:
1. Effective participation in the society
2. Development of individual's skills writing
3. Increase in the level of culture
4. Introduction of initiatives
5. Assistance of those with special needs
He called youth to benefit from other's experiences, and called them to enjoy a concrete well, and to behave with patience, and to enjoy endurance and not to feel despairs when witnessing the alarming states, stressing the importance of youth's belief in themselves and their capabilities . |
